Installation & Operating Instructions

AA03-020-001 & AA03-030-001 Work Supports

Usage of your IVB fastener requires simple preparation of the "holding" side for the housing threads and preparation of the "receiving" side for the stud threads. If the Work Support is to be used for precise location in height, it is suggested that prep of the "holding" side be made to the exact depth required to achieve the desired height.

Prepare the "holding" side in the following manner:

Drill a 15/16" (.938) diameter (thru) hole.
C'Bore 1.17/1.178" x .015R to a depth of 1.152"
Tap(or thread)

1 1/4"-12
UNF-2B-LH to a depth of .950"

Prepare the "receiving" side for the stud threads:

Tap Drill thru using 27/64" diameter drill. C'Sink .60" dia. x 45 degrees. Tap 1/2"-13 x .55" deep. For better resistance against vibration, use a Spiralock® tap.

Screw the IVB Work Support into the 1-1/4"-12 threaded hole with a 1-1/16" open ended wrench. Screw the jam nut down to contact the face of the "holding" side using a 1-1/2" open-ended wrench. If desired to use the Work Support for both holding and locating, Place the "receiving" side 1/2"-13 tapped hole directly above the IVB work Support. Reach through the 1/2"-13 hole with your hex head wrench until contacting the hex head broach in the IVB stud. Start turning counter-clockwise lifting your hex head wrench at the same time. The stud will proceed into the 1/2"-13 tapped hole. Tighten until the stud is fully engaged (approximately .46" inches into the "receiving" side). Use a feeler gauge to insure that the "receiving" side material is pulled down properly.

General

Your Invert-A-Bolt™ (IVB) Work Support is a patented product, ideal for use as a "rest" or as a precision support during manufacture, with the added benefit of the unique holding capabilities of the IVB fastener. The IVB Work Support screws into the same hole as that used by the other AA03-xxx-xxx products. The length of the IVB Work Support is adjusted in the application by screwing the jam nut up or down along the barrel of the Work Support. Your Work Support is shipped with (2) types of O-rings. The O-ring installed on this part allows for a medium fit. If a tight fit is desired, remove the installed O-ring and replace with the alternate O-ring found in the shipping container.

Replacement Parts & Maintenance

Replace Drive Retainer as wear results in stud staying in the "up" position. Replace all internal components as required by ordering AA03-020-001 or AA03-030-001 REFURB KIT.

Proviso's

The Drive Retainer of the IVB fastener has a limited life. Periodic replacement may be required depending upon the application.

The IVB fastener is not certified to any specification. If loading is a concern, you should perform your own load analysis prior to usage in an application. Shear & Tensile Load information for some Invert-A-Bolt™ products is available at the FAQ page. The IVB fastener should be used in only two positions – fully engaged and fully dis-engaged.
